Pouring Concrete

For several weeks now, Conner & Cayden's favorite thing to do, is to pretend to go to work. Every morning we say goodbye to dad, and tell him to have a good day at work.  Sometimes we even visit him at work.  I think they would go with him every day if they could.  They love their dad, and they love what dad does.  The rocks, dumpsters, excavators, concrete trucks, loaders. . . what more could a boy want?  Well, I am trying very hard to let them be creative, and play "work" at home, but I have to admit, it is trying my patience.  At least three days a week, "work" consists of pouring (Keir would correct us and say placing) concrete in the playroom. Our playroom has built in shelves on either side, and the bottom row of shelves has 12 different baskets full of a variety of toys.  Pouring concrete means they gather ALL TWELVE baskets, one at a time in our play shopping cart, and pour (dump) them on the floor.  They then take turns with our noisy push roller thing from Ikea smoothing out the concrete.  See for yourself.
The biggest problem is that the concrete is way more than a 2 & 4 year old can clean up, and mom ends up "working" all afternoon so we have somewhere to walk.  Help!

Not so New Arrival

There are many things I want/need to post as I embark on a new goal to keep our blog updated. However, I must begin with the arrival of Allison Grace.  For those who did not hear about her grand entrance, Allison arrived on March 27, one month early, while we were in Denver to take Conner to some appointments at Children's Hospital.  The story is quite long, but since it was almost seven months ago, I will give the quick version.  The day began with a visit to my doctor to make sure I was okay to travel over Vail pass to Denver. I was having mild, pain-free, braxton hicks contractions, but he said they were indeed false contractions, and that I was nowhere near going into labor.  He told us to have a good trip.  About the time we stopped in Silverthorne to eat dinner I was no longer pain-free, in fact I was in quite a bit of pain, about every 10-15 minutes. We kept telling ourselves to listen to the doctor, and that this false labor would go away soon.  We got to our hotel in Denver about 9 pm and went to sleep.  Well, everyone but me went to sleep.  I couldn't because I was still in a good (great!) amount of pain. With help from the hotel concierge, the local fire department, an ambulance, and Rose Medical Center, Allison made her grand entrance at 2:15 in the morning, only 5 minutes after Keir arrived at the hospital.  She is a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl.  Here are some pics from the last seven months.  I only hope her grand entrance is not a sign of things to come!

Cayden's Thumb

We've know for a few months that Cayden had trigger finger in his right thumb, but the doctor told us it was not urgent, not painful, and Cayden did not mind at all.  I noticed it one day when trying to clip his finger nails, and kept telling him to straighten his thumb.  After getting frustrated, I realized that he really couldn't.  His thumb was stuck in a bent position.  We finally decided to schedule the surgery which clipped the tight tendon holding the thumb down.  Cayden was such a brave boy!

She's even cute when she cries!  She didn't like that Cayden was getting all the attention.

Play'n in the Snow

What's up everyone! Things are going good here for Cayden and I. This is the first winter that Cayden and I really like playing outside in the snow--that's because we're bigger. We've been playing at the park with our sleds. Dad helped us make a big snow slide by our driveway...it was as tall as Dad! Last weekend we were playing in our sand box, but it was full of snow so now we call it our SNOWbox. Our jeep was half burried in the snow. Dad had to dig out the door so I could drive it.

!!HAWAII NOODLES!!

Hi everyone. We just want to let you all know that Conner and I

LOVE HAWAII NOODLES!!!!

It all started while we were in Hawaii. When we'd go out to eat Grandpa Jones and Dad would order Hawaii noodles (known to the rest of the world as saimin) and Conner and I would eat some.

When we got home from Hawaii Dad showed us that he knew how to make Hawaii noodles. Now Hawaii noodles are lunch every Sunday. And YES we use chopsticks just like the big guys do...and we're pretty good at it for 4 and 2 years old!

Check out these pictures of us slurping up Hawaii noodles!

Yellowstone

Tatonka Tatonka Tatonka!! We took a really long road trip to visit the tatonka in Yellowstone. We loaded up Dad's truck and drove to Auntie Tiffany and Uncle Don's house in Utah for a couple of days. Then we packed up and drove to Rexburg Idaho for Uncle Michael's graduation. We got back in Dad's truck and drove to Yellowstone to camp for a few days. When we got there one of the first things that we saw was a giant TATONKA!!
We helped set up our tent and get out our sleeping bags. I had a rope that I played with all weekend. Cayden kept getting ice out of the ice chest for a snack. We ate a whole lot of marshmallows with graham crackers and chocolate. We hiked around our campground and explored all kinds of stuff. There was even a big bridge that we played on. The day before we drove home we played at the lake...I thought that we were in Hawaii.
I was sad to leave because we were having so much fun with all our cousins, aunts and uncles, and especially our grandmas and grandpas.
Here are some more pictures:
See ya later...Conner
